Superclub PlayGround, which opened at the Hilton Hotel, Liverpool, in December is proving a popular haunt for those who love to party.

PlayGround launched in spectacular style, bringing with it a big slice of 6-star luxury to Merseyside. No expense was spared on this £2m super-club, designed by the team behind Whisky Mist, and this is evident immediately as you enter. PlayGround oozes style, with its sumptuous décor, eye-catching LCD wall that projects pin-sharp videos, and sound responsive lighting that pulses to the rhythm of the state-of-the-art sound system.

PlayGround is the creation of Ability Group property developer George Panayiotou, whose vision was to bring some Las Vegas-inspired luxury to the deserving people of Liverpool. George then enlisted some of the best people from the north-west to really bring the wow factor.

Liverpool fashion designer Kirsty Doyle designed the staff uniforms, Justine Mills from Cricket is running the membership scheme, and Alex Gerrard designed the membership cards.

Leading North West law firm, Kirwans, hosted a Ladies Lunch on Friday at the Olive Press on Castle Street. Twenty Five ladies attended the lunch, which included a cookery demonstration from Olive Press Sous Chef, Mariusz Holboy, who demonstrated the art of perfecting chopping techniques and gave the ladies an insight into the simple, but effective art of food presentation. Hollyoaks actress Alex Fletcher, who reached the quarter finals last year in the popular TV cookery show Masterchef, was a guest at the lunch and also joined Chef to make the 'perfect' thin based Italian pizza.

Luckily, there was no hostility between Corrie's Michelle Keegan and Hollyoaks actress Jennifer Metcalfe, who are both battling it out to win Sexiest Female at the Inside Soap awards.
The biggest stars of the night were certainly our chefs and mixologists who created first class cocktails including the 'Livertini' and 'Toffeeshoptini' as well as a mouth-watering spread of oysters, cheese, fish, pizza and meat dishes from the 'full to the brim' food stations.

The first Red Door opened in West Kirby in April last year with a £500,000 investment in the former funeral parlour and has proved to be an enormously popular venue in the seaside town. The pair's business relationship stretches back to the early 90's when they set up a concept called JW Johnsons in Manchester, and they eventually went on to set up the Via Vita and Life Café Chains in Liverpool and Manchester at which time they were joined by business partner Jeremy Roberts. The Liverpool Life Café outlet spearheaded a revival of upmarket bars in the city centre. Those venues were sold to Whitbread in 1999 after which Dave Hinds decided to branch out into property leaving Tim Bacon and Jeremy Roberts to set up Living Ventures.

Chester based entrepreneur Dave Hinds is delighted to be reunited with business partner and founder of the Living Room chain Tim Bacon to bring a stylish new concept to Chester at the end of this month. The Red Door Neighbourhood Bar is due to open underneath Blossoms Hotel on St. John Street, Chester on Wednesday 4th May, with a stylish launch event taking place in the middle of May.

The first Red Door opened in West Kirby in April last year with a £500,000 investment in the former funeral parlour and has proved to be an enormously popular venue in the seaside town. The pair's business relationship stretches back to the early 90's when they set up a concept called JW Johnsons in Manchester, and they eventually went on to set up the Via Vita and Life Café Chains across the UK, at which time they were joined by business partner Jeremy Roberts. The Liverpool Life Café outlet spearheaded a revival of upmarket bars in Liverpool city centre. Those venues were sold to Whitbread in 1999 after which Dave Hinds decided to embark on a period of semi-retirement to concentrate on his property portfolio, leaving Tim Bacon and Jeremy Roberts to set up Living Ventures.
