Genius at work
On Friday, I called in to the Town Hall to catch up with a very talented photographer and friend of mine, Jim Connolly, who was showcasing some of his outstanding portraits in the glorious surroundings of the main ballrooms.
Jim has a unique eye for what will make an interesting artistic shot and I never cease to be amazed at what he catches through his lens.
I don’t know anyone else who captures quite what Jim does.
He is a genius and his work always amazes me.

I think Jim is a Jewel in Liverpool's crown - so many true genius do not get the recognition they deserve. So it is great to see Jim holding centre stage and I advise anyone to see his work and ideally commission him to do a family portrature to die for for.

I met Mr. Connolly on a brief visit from the U.S. when he had a photographic display at The Liverpool Cathedral. The photograph which moved me most is of poet, Levi Tafari. In case you haven't seen it, it's a photo which captures the essence that Liverpool was built on the backs of slavery, but, through education, we (society) need to look toward the light of the future. Ask him about it! I don’t know how he could cram all these themes into one photo, but he did (true genius), and it is moving...and, I will never forget the photo...
Jim Connolly is an absolute star. Great portraits and a great yet humble man. He has an eye for detail and an uncanny ability to bring style, sophistication and composition to his photographs. Look out for his ironic "Constable" - witty, memorable and an example of a man at the top of his field...
Mr Jim Connolly is a wee GEM, I have had the pleasure of being photographed by him and not only is he an amazing photographer but also a brilliant director, Jim made me feel completley a ease, his work is fantastic, he is a great person who has som wicked stories to tell, sometimes through his pictures and sometimes verbually but either way your sure to be intertained........
Jim is a true ambassador for Liverpool, he gets things done while others are still thinking about it! His sparklig wit is as keen as a razor ,as shown in his remarkable photographs. His images raise the subject matter to a higher level and for that I will be eternally grateful to him.
YOU'LL NEVER MEET THIS MAN ONCE AND LATER REFER TO HIM AS JIM "WHO." ONCE MET NEVER FORGOTTEN AND SO ARE HIS PICTURES - PURE QUALITY. THE MOST OFTEN PHRASE USED BY HIS SUBJECTS MUST BE "I DON'T KNOW HOW HE GOT ME TO AGREE TO THAT, BUT I LIKE IT." BLESS YA JIM.X
