Chamber of Commerce Construction Lunch
Liverpool Chamber of Commerce's September Construction and Development Lunch was held at the Liverpool Marriott Hotel in Queen's Square on Thursday 25th.
Prior to lunch guest had the opportunity to network and make connections. Guests then enjoyed a two course lunch of leek and potato soup followed by chicken supreme and tarragon cream vegetables with coffee to finish.
Guest Speaker at this month's lunch was Neil Scales, Chief Executive and Director General at Merseytravel, who gave an entertaining and informative presentation on Merseyside's transport strategy, covering its current successes and its plans for further future improvements. Neil highlighted how the primary upcoming challenges would be managing city centre traffic growth, road maintenance and maintaining good air quality in the city. He then took question from the floor.
Merseytravel has been transformed into an award-winning learning organisation under Neil, and he personally chairs its environmental group, with Merseytravel being the first PTA/PTE to achieve the ISO 14001 environmental standard. Amongst his other responsibilities, he chairs ACT TravelWise, which promotes sustainable travel, and ITSO the integrated Smartcard Organisation. He was also recently appointed Chair of pteg, the organisation that represents PTEs in England to the government.
