DLIB held its first Chairman's dinner of 2009 at the fabulous Alma De Cuba, where guests were treated to a superb menu and some of the establishments finest wines.

Items for discussion at the invitation only event included the council's proposed car parking charges and Downtown's programme for the forthcoming year.

VIP guests from around the city were invited to a selection of special showcases this week at new Champagne celebration lounge Champu.

Herbert of Liverpool treated guests to Laurent Perrier and Perrier Jouët Champagne, food courtesy of Heathcotes and entertainment from some of the finest pianists in Great Britain.

Located in the popular bar and restaurant district of L2, Beetham Plaza, Champu will offer guests a taste of luxury through a booking only system where a reservation is necessary and a jacket is required at all times.

One of Heswall's most stylish bars and restaurants GUSTO was the venue for the Wirral Witches (Women in Touch with Claire House) Valentine's Dinner on the 14th February. The fundraising dinner, supported by Barclays Bank, brought some romance to the Wirral Witches fundraising schedule with over 60 couples enjoying the romantic evening. Champagne on arrival followed by a three course dinner, saxophone player, band and a DJ ensured that the guests had a fabulous time.

Liverpool's Golden Boy Fernando Torres was honoured last week for being voted LFC Player of the year by visitors to www.liverpoolfc.tv for 2007/2008 season. Fernando visited David M. Robinson in Church Alley, Liverpool, to receive the new Breitling Super Avenger watch with white dial and a red Ocean Racer strap, which retails for £2,695. Fernando has become popular with his team mates and fans alike and has become a key part of Liverpool's title challenge this year. Fernando was delighted with his watch, and opted to keep the red strap!

Fernando Torres said "I know that last season was a fantastic season for me. It was my first one at Liverpool and I really enjoyed it because of the goals I scored, but also because of the support of the fans which helped me so much. When you plan in a team with players like Stevie, Carra, Reina and Mascherano - in fact, any of my team mates - it is a bit honour to be given this kind of award, especially because it was voted for by the fans"
