HOLLYOAKS - WAR OF THE WAITERS - at the Blackhouse Grill in Chester
Hollyoaks cast members took over Chester's Blackhouse Grill to raise money for the Alder Hey Imagine Appeal last night. Two teams of Hollyoaks' most popular characters worked as waitresses, bar tenders and chefs in a toughly fought out competition to see which side could encourage their diners to spend the most money. The Hollyoaks 'War of the Waiters' event, hosted by Mark Jones, took place at the stylish Blackhouse Grill Restaurant and Bar in Newgate Street, Chester. Guests booked tables on a first come first served basis, there was no ticket price, no raffle and no auction, but half of the diners total spend was donated to charity. Working alongside the Blackhouse Grill's highly trained staff the 'White Team' and the 'Black Team' ran their designated sections and encouraged the diners to eat and drink with 50% of the total bill going to a very worthwhile cause.
The 'White Team' captained by Ashley Taylor Dawson, who was joined by Dominique Jackson, Garnon Davies and Jessica Fox were the winning team with 185 points and worked tirelessly, producing good quality food and drinks. 'Black Team' captain Nick Pickard, was gracious in defeat being pipped at the post with an impressive 183 points and his team included Kieron Richardson, Nathalie Emmanuel and Gemma Merna, who began her shift in killer Laboutin heels and then decided that her Ugg Boots were far more comfortable!
The teams were awarded points for various things including, the team who took the most money on their section, the server who took the biggest individual spend, the server who sold the most cocktails, the server who sold the most steak and the server who received the biggest cash tip. The Blackhouse Grill team also joined in the spirit of the occasion by donating all of their tips at the end of the night. The War of the Waiters event raised £1,881.49 for the charity.
Paul Moran, Operations Director at the Blackhouse Grill said "The Hollyoaks teams have done a tremendous job tonight. They have worked incredibly hard and produced some great food and drinks. They took the evening seriously and really did get stuck in. We are delighted to have hosted such a novel, good fun event at the Blackhouse Grill for such a worthwhile charity"
Nick Pickard, Hollyoaks' longest serving character, Tony Hutchinson, said "Hollyoaks has always supported The Alder Hey Imagine appeal playing various football match's throughout the year. So when we were approached to be involved in tonight's event we were only too pleased to take part. I was really proud of my teams efforts tonight, they worked incredibly hard!"
